SAP SRM 7.0 New Functions and Technology :
The following is an overview of the most important new features in SAP SRM 7.0 compared to SAP SRM 5.0.
General :
- Improved integration in SAP ERP through a test transfer and checks for changes and consistency in transferred order data.
- Schedule-directed procurement
- Scheduled procurement is supported, which has advantages, especially in the case of direct materials. This includes productionplans,
- automated production systems, project requirements or maintenance needs.
- Individual processing of purchasing documents in the POWL (Personal Work list).
- Makes it possible to submit offers for structured requests for services, confirmation of orders, services rendered report, and invoices for suppliers
- who have access to SAP SRM.

Operative Purchasing - Self Service Procurement
- Team Shopping Basket–The person placing the order can release the shopping basket to be viewed and processed by a predefined team.
- Purchase of services–The purchase of services has been improved.
- Different types of services are supported (e.g.time or results-related).
- The complexity of services is taken into account (e.g. service hierarchies).
- It is possible to simply copy existing positions into new orders.
- It is possible to approve individual positions.
- Columns can be individually set and sorted in the shopping basket view.

Contract Management :
Contracts can be stored centrally in SAP SRM and distributed to diverse SAP ERP systems.

Hierarchies can be applied to requests for proposals.

Technology:
- New user interface (UI) Webdynpro for ABAP
- Stronger integration of SAP SRM in the SAP Portal (EP) From SP (Service Pack) 5 onwards, it is possible to select between the use of the portal or the business client when using SAP SRM 7.
- The SAP workflow has been altered. The former application-controlled workflow framework has been replaced by the process workflow (BRF).The new workflow makes it easier to illustrate customer-specific business processesin the SRM.Old workflows from SAP SRM 5 can still be used.
- SAP PI can also be used. The SAP Business Connector is also still available.
